2. HOW TO GET TO TALBOT HOUSE

FROM THE DIRECTION OF CALAIS - DUNKIRK

- Take A16 (E40) heading for Dunkirk
- Take A25 (E42) heading for Lille
- Take exit 13 (Steenvoorde) heading for Poperinge (D948 & N38)
- Turn right onto the Poperinge ring road (R33)

FROM THE DIRECTION OF BRUGGE - GENT - KORTRIJK

- Follow the A19 Kortrijk-Ieper till end (Ieper-Noord)
- At the lights, turn left, follow signs for Poperinge, Veurne, Duinkerke
- At the lights at the end (approx. 15 min.), turn right onto the Poperinge ring road (R33)

FROM THE DIRECTION OF VEURNE - DIKSMUIDE

- Drive towards Ieper
- On the double carriageway around Ieper (N308) turn right, follow signs to Poperinge.
- At the lights at the end, turn right onto the Poperinge ring road (R33)

POPERINGE

- Follow the signs 'Centrum' till you reach the market square
- The street next to Café de la Paix is Gasthuisstraat
- Talbot House is situated on the right, number 43, with sign "Every Man's Club"
- The entrance, via the Concert Hall, is to be found in the Pottestraat, i.e. the first street to the right (beyond Talbot House)

CAR PARK

You can park your car for free in the immediate neighbourhood.
On your arrival, park your car in Gasthuisstraat, ring the front door bell,
and we'll give you directions for a safe parking spot.

The Friends of Talbot House

bring together people who are interested in the House and everything it stands for,
people who love it and enjoy visiting it,
just for the atmosphere or to meet old or new friends;

offer those people who have neither the time nor the opportunity to play an active part in the affairs of Talbot House, a way to keep in touch;
3.
help to maintain and preserve this unique old house.

Members of the Friends are offered
- an (informal) lasting link with Talbot House;
- three newsletters a year;
- the assurance that your contribution is used solely for the benefit of the House;
- free entry to the whole Talbot House site on showing your membership card;
- an invitation to our activities.

Annual membership fee
€ 18,00 / £ 18 (p.p.)
€ 36,00 / £ 36 (per family)

If you join during a visit to Talbot House, the paid entrance fee is refunded.
Joining the Friends also is possible from this form, and by sending a cheque payable to "Friends of Talbot House"

The history of Talbot House doesn't end with the First World War. The spirit that for three years animated this soldiers' club gives birth in the twenties to the international Toc H-movement. This organisation nowadays still is active in the UK, Australia, South-Africa, Germany,...and in Belgium.

The former device of the Every Man’s Club (“All rank abandon ‘ye who enter here”) makes the Toc H-movement to aim at peace and reconciliation, to treat people in a friendly and unprejudiced way, and to offer help to people in need.

The Belgium Branch of the Toc H-movement is based at Talbot House, and wants to give shape to the ideals of friendship, social service and respect in a varied and actual way. For and together with the local community activities are organised, contact with British Toc H-members is taken to heart, and Talbot House activities are supported.
