From Field to Front is a 45-minute New Zealand documentary that pays tribute to Dave Gallaher, the legendary captain of the 1905 ‘Originals’ All Blacks and a soldier during the First World War. Through a symbolic exchange of soil between New Zealand and the former battlefields, the film tells its remarkable story and highlights the enduring bond between rugby, remembrance and sacrifice.

The documentary is presented by former All Blacks captain Sean Fitzpatrick and features contributions from former international Andrew Mehrtens. *From Field to Front* premiered on Anzac Day, 25 April 2026, on TVNZ 1 and TVNZ+, and will be screened once by the New Zealand Pilgrimage Trust, courtesy of the documentary’s producers.
