Christmas at Talbot House

15 November 2022 - 8 January 2023

Experience a true home from home during the festive Christmas season. Enjoy a Talbot House Christmas Story, Christmas cakes, some great Christmas shopping and of course thousands of lights!

For British Tommies, Christmas was sacred. During the dark days of the First & Second World War, the Yuletide always was a beacon of hope. Despite the horrors of war, the priorities at Talbot House were centered around Christmas. All available hands were directed towards sourcing sheet music, decorations, pastry and holly to get the festivities going. Fortune smiled when baby Jesus was rescued from the crib when a short circuit on the Star of Bethlehem set the nativity scene ablaze.  Padre Tubby and his Talbotousians handed out presents to less fortunate children in Poperinge during several parties. When the children grew up, many of them too would become faithful Talbotousians.

This years again, we were able to call upon our local Talboutisians to turn Talbot House into a Christmas paradise. Thousands of lights, a magnificent tree and great cakes make a great mix for an unforgettable Christmas experience. Children can enjoy a great Christmas quiz and tablet quest with the House cat. Our story tellers gladly will take you on tour of the Old House and Garden with a wonderful historic Christmas Story. Don't forget to have a look in the shop for lots of exclusive Christmas presents.

Today, as before, Talbot House hopes to bring a sparkle of light in dark times. Be assured of a warm welcome!
