Talbot House is a house of stories, there is an anecdote in every corner. The names of the rooms in the Garden House also have a nice story attached to them. Each room is named after a person, an event or an object of historical importance to the house or to the association.

MacFie room (twin room)

Although Talbot House was initially only open to men, it was also visited by a number of women. Under the leadership of Alison MacFie, these women, who were mainly nurses, founded the League of Women Helpers, an organization within Talbot House that supported Toc H's work.

Battheu room (double room)

Jeanne Battheu grew up in Poperinge during the war. In Talbot House she came to dance, play and sing. She continued to play the piano there all her life and was an inspiration to the many visitors, and she still is to this day.

Leonard Browne room (twin room)

This room in the Garden House was named after a man who gave himself to the service of the House: Leonard Browne, Captain of the British Army Medical Service and personal friend of Talbot House founder Tubby.
